CAUGHT ON TAPE: STUART MAN INVOLVED IN STABBING CHARGED WITH HATE CRIME

A 33-year old man who pulled a knife and slashed a clerk inside a local retail store, said he did it because he doesn’t like Arabs. Jeremiah Emmanuel Hendrix can be seen on store video inside The Family Dollar Store on SE Dixie Highway yesterday afternoon. According to store employees, He began harassing and yelling at two of the clerks. When he attempted to grab one of the females, another employee stepped in to help. Hendrix then pulled out a knife and slashed the victim on the arm. Hendrix then fled on foot. MCSO set up a perimeter and located Hendrix in a wooded area about 4-blocks west of the store.

Jeremiah Hendrix was positively identified by the victim, and questioned by deputies. Hendrix told deputies he did it and that “there’s no reason other than they are (expletive) Arabs, I don’t like Arabs”.

Jeremiah Hendrix was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon as a hate crime. He was booked in to the Martin County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
