St. Lucie Mosquito Control to Perform Aerial Larviciding on North Hutchinson July 8

St. Lucie County’s Mosquito Control and Coastal Management Department will perform aerial larviciding on North Hutchinson Island on Saturday, July 8 beginning around 7 to 8 a.m., weather permitting.

The aerial dropping of larviciding granules will be performed. It will be around King’s Island, Queen’s Cove and Impoundment 19 D (just north of Queen’s Cove).  This treatment is being performed over unpopulated mangrove swamps and coastal preserves surrounding residential communities.

To prevent mosquito bites, residents are reminded to wear light clothing when jogging or walking in the evenings. Use bug repellant with DEET. Homeowners can also assist in the prevention of mosquito populations by practicing the “tip and toss” method of emptying containers that collect standing water around their homes and yards.
