Several Very Serious Crashes in Martin County Over the Weekend

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Firefighters, and Florida Highway Patrol, were busy with a number of serious crashes over the weekend. We would like to update you on those crashes.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Two motorcyclists were injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car, at the intersection of Jensen Beach Boulevard and Green River Parkway. It happened just before 7:30pm Friday night. Deputies had to close the intersection down for at least an hour. The driver of the car was not injured. The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.

EARLY SATURDAY MORNING

Martin County Fire Rescue worked for more than an hour to free the driver of a semi-tractor trailer that crashed on I-95, near mile marker 102, early Saturday morning. The semi was traveling southbound when it crossed the median into northbound traffic. The truck hit an oncoming car, then flipped. The driver of the car was not injured. The driver of the truck is expected to survive, due to the diligence of the firefighters who worked to free him from the wreckage.

SATURDAY NIGHT

A horse was struck by at least four cars along Martin Highway, just east of SR 609. The horse’s owner was on scene and told deputies that someone left the gate to his property open, allowing the horse to walk off. No one inside the vehicles was seriously injured. No further information is available
