Program Designed to Help Businesses With Crime

A Port St Lucie police program is trying to make the community safer for businesses.

It’s called Partners Against Crime, and its designed to help businesses stay one step ahead of criminals by using real time alerts. Port St. Lucie Police say all business owners have to do is sign up and they’ll get the very latest info to their phone or email at a moments notice.

Henry Andrade manages L and M Electrical, which was burglarized over the summer. The criminals burrowed through his walls to steal thousands of dollars in electrical wire.

Andrade had no clue the suspects were transporting their equipment in a truck stolen from a nearby animal shelter weeks earlier.

Police say with their new program Partners Against Crime, business owners will be alerted to crimes as they happen.

Port St. Lucie Assistant Chief Richard Del Toro says business owners can choose to add their name and numbers to the database.

Officers will track any crimes that happen throughout the city and send out an alert. The owners will be able to see crime patterns, emergencies and communicate specifically with investigators.
