New Fire Chief in Martin County
There is officially a new fire chief in Martin County.
Yesterday the Martin County Board of County Commissioners confirmed the appointment of Bill Schobel as Chief of the Fire Rescue Department. Chief Schobel has served Martin County since 2010, most recently leading the Fire Rescue Training Bureau. Schobel was appointed Interim Fire Chief in May 2016. Prior to joining Martin County, Schobel spent 25 years with Seminole Fire Rescue near St. Petersburg, working his way through the ranks, from Firefighter/EMT to Training Chief. Additionally, Schobel is an U.S. Army Veteran, serving during Desert Storm.
At the BOCC meeting, County Administrator Taryn Kryzda officially ‘pinned’ Schobel as the Fire Chief of Martin County.
