MCSO track serial thieves to Okeechobee

MCSO DETECTIVES TRACK OKEECHOBEE COUNTY SERIAL THIEVES TARGETING MARTIN COUNTY RESIDENTS

Martin County Sheriff’s Detectives were working to track a pair of serial thieves who were victimizing residents of Port Mayaca were arrested last night, after crossing paths with investigators.

Criminal Investigations Detective Mark Diapolis and Detective Mike Fenton were out actively searching for a suspect vehicle, when detectives spotted the truck as it sped past them on Kanner Highway. Detectives conducted a traffic stop that later turned into a full confession of the crimes. Detective Augustin Saucedo was instrumental in obtaining those confessions.

21-year old Robert Thompson and 24-year old James Roeder admitted to multiple thefts that had taken place to victims who live near the Lake Okeechobee Rim Canal in Port Mayaca. Both suspects, who reside in Okeechobee, were arrested and charged with grand theft, and possession of cannabis. They were taken to the Martin County Jail. Additional charges are pending.
