MC Sneaky Thief in jail after video goes viral

19-year old David Hay tried to be a sneaky thief  when he stole $400.00 from the cash register at a local business. Hay dropped by Ifix Galaxy to get his cell phone repaired. When the technician stepped in back for a moment, Hay stepped up to the cash register and helped himself. Everything about his crime seemed perfect, including the video of him taking the cash. When management realized there was a shortage, they reviewed the video and posted it to Facebook. As Hay’s video popularity blew up, so did his bad luck.

Two days later, Martin County Sheriff’s Sergeant Tim Baltes and Corporal Jason Pickering, who were both familiar with Hay and aware of the Facebook post, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near SE Ocean Boulevard. In the passenger seat was video star David Hay. Hay told deputies he was on his way out of town, but Sergeant Baltes and Corporal Pickering immediately let him know he was a video sensation. Hay couldn’t deny such star power and confessed to the theft.

David Hay was rerouted to the Martin County Jail, and charged with Grand Theft.

With fame, comes a price, or in this case a bond of $2,500.00.
