Large Fires in Martin and St Lucie County
St. Lucie County Fire Rescue crews battled a large brush fire in the western part of the county yesterday. The fire was located off of Carlton Road. Fire Rescue says they received calls about the fire around 4:15 p.m.
The fire originally spanned over 120-acres. Florida Forestry was also on scene, assisting fire rescue crews. Florida Forestry reported the fire had been 100% contained and no homes were threatened as of 7PM.
Martin County Fire Rescue and Florida Forest Service battled a 100-acre brush fire in Allapattah Flats. Fire Rescue says embers carried by winds ignited dry vegetation in the area, sometimes as much as a quarter-mile away from the main fire.
