Complete Nutrition owner develops “Nutrition for Kids” workshop

Jensen Beach, FL - Complete Nutrition in Jensen Beach will host a Nutrition for Kids program during the Starbucks Coffee Company and Jensen Beach Chamber of Commerce Arts, Coffee, Conversation, and Goodwill event on Tuesday, February 7, (5-8pm).  The event will be held in front of the Complete Nutrition, Starbucks, Verizon Wireless, and Dairy Queen stores at Pineapple Commons, NW Federal Highway in front of Best Buy.

Scott Hogan, Complete Nutrition owner and Certified Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant said, “The goal of the program is to educate parents and kids on healthy nutrition principles. We expect a huge turnout from kids and parents. Nutrition for Kids will provide valuable information about kid nutrition and how to get children excited about healthy living.”

Startling statistics concerning childhood obesity and nutrition deficiencies spurred Hogan into action. “One in three kids born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime and most cases are preventable through proper nutrition. Many children are also deficient in important minerals like calcium, zinc, and iron which can affect proper development, mental focus, and immune function,” Hogan pointed out. “Nutrition for Kids will focus on a few easy ways to prevent these deficiencies and improve kids’ eating habits.”

Doug Hencken, manager of Starbucks, organized the event in cooperation with the Jensen Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneurship Foundation, Inc to benefit the arts programs of local schools. The event, proclaimed as “for the kids, by the kids”, will include student performances from local schools, student artwork, and displays from several local businesses, including a Marine Corp. demonstration.  For more information about the event contact Starbucks, 772-692-3031 or the Jensen Beach Chamber 772-334-3444.  For information about the “Nutrition for Kids” workshop contact Scott Hogan at 772-692-1666.
