PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Martha Hornsby, a Democrat, and former Chief Deputy Clerk, with over 25 years of management experience working in the St. Lucie County Clerk of Court’s office, has received enough signed petitions to qualify for the upcoming election.

Hornsby has held the following positions in the Clerk’s office:  Court Clerk, Traffic and Misdemeanor Supervisor, Manager of Auxiliary Services, Manager of Central Cashiering and Central Intake, and Chief Deputy.

She has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Public Administration; and is an active member of the community.  Hornsby is a member of Westside Baptist Church, St. Lucie County Historical Society, Fort Pierce Garden Club, White City Improvement Club, Democrat Club of St. Lucie County, Treasure Coast Bromeliad Society and Lawnwood Tennis Team.

The Clerk is the Chief Financial Officer in the county and also an accountant to the Board of County Commissioners.  The Clerk is responsible for maintaining court records and collecting all court-related fines and fees.  The clerk handles all civil and criminal matters and also the recording of all documents.

“I’m very happy to have the community’s support.  I appreciate all of the people who have helped me qualify by petition.  Getting all of this support, this early in a campaign is an indication, the community is ready for a change,” stated Hornsby.
