The unspoiled national environment of Hobe Sound makes it one of the most beautiful nature spots on the Treasure Coast. Hobe Sound boasts an abundance of championship golf courses, beautiful beaches and  parks with incredible wildlife and nature trails. Guided boat tour along the St. Lucie River, Intracoastal Waterway, Indian River and Loxahatchee River.

Cool History:

During the land boom of the 1920s, the Olympia Improvement Corporation announced elaborate plans  for Hobe Sound.   Its goal was to create a town, in Greek style, where motion pictures could be produced. Street names bore the Greek theme with names such as Zeus, Saturn, Mercury, Mars, Olympus, Pluto and Athena.

For a brief time this place was renamed “Picture City” and plans were presented for a movie picture production center, very similar to Hollywood, California. The boom collapsed after the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane and the original name was restored. Street names remained, however, as did the concrete streetlight posts along Dixie Highway.

In Dexter season 7, episode 8 (“Argentina”), Dexter takes his children and nanny to Hobe Beach, near Tower 1. He gives Hannah Mackay directions to meet them there. Then tells his stepdaughter Astor that beach was where her late mother used to always take them. It was her favorite beach.
