Fort Pierce detectives charge suspect with homicide.

Fort Pierce police detectives filed a first degree murder charge Wednesday against a 20-year-old Fort Pierce man who was already booked in the St. Lucie County jail on unrelated charges.

The suspect, Arkevius Malone, of the 2500 block of Wilkins Avenue, had been in jail since June 20.

Officers were called to the 4500 block of Whispering Pines Lane on May 26.. They found a man there who had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue.

The victim was Joseph Brown, 57. He lived at the residence there.

Subsequent investigation led detectives to Malone at the St. Lucie County Jail.
