Florida Master Naturalist Program Accepting Registration for Wetlands Course

Registration is under way for the Florida Master Naturalist Wetland Systems course running Nov. 9 – Dec. 17, which will be hosted by the Oxbow Eco-Center and the Savannas Preserve State Park.

This award-winning certification program, developed by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), is a 40-hour immersion course, where students learn about wetlands and waterways. Through lectures, field trips and hands-on activities, participants learn about the flora and fauna, water quality, ecological processes, ethics and stewardship of Florida’s vital aquatic habitats.

The Master Naturalist Wetland Systems sessions will take place Wednesday evenings and Saturdays with a break during the week of Thanksgiving.  The cost of the course is $230 per person.  Registration is now open at www.masternaturalist.org. Early registration is recommended as space is limited.

Classes will be held Wednesdays from 6 to 9:30 p.m. (Nov. 9, 16 & 30; Dec. 7); Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Nov. 12 & 16; Dec. 3 & 10) and Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
