Volusia County(Treasurecoast.comInvestigators from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are looking for the person who put a batch of dangerous meatballs in a dog park in central Florida.

On Tuesday, a deputy responded to a report of contaminated meat found in the dog park at 1850 Ocean Shore Blvd.

A woman told deputies she found five meatballs containing fish hooks while walking in the park.

She said her dog didn’t eat any of the meatballs, but another dog had eaten at least two of them.

That dog was taken to the vet with two of the meatballs.  Five meat balls were located and turned over to Deputy Bowen.

Deputy Bowen searched the small dog park near the east fence line. One meatball was found in the grass.  The meat was still cold and sweating like it had been frozen and was thawing in the sun for awhile. Several were very mushy. The meat appeared have the consistency and smell of liverwurst.

Deputy Bowen took photos of the meatballs and then cut them open. Then she saw several fish hooks.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy filed a similar report two years ago after finding meat stuffed with pills at the same dog park.
