Fort Pierce, FL: Darin Slater, of Fort Pierce and owner of Slate Barbershop in Fort Pierce, is gearing up for his 6th Annual Slate Barbershop Back To School Cut-A-Thon. This year’s event is slated for Saturday, August 12 at 3803 Avenue J, Fort Pierce, Florida.
“This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than ever,” explained Slate. “In the past we provided haircuts for school aged young men from pre-schoolers to Seniors but we never had anything to keep the younger guys entertained. This year we are adding bounce houses.”
For the past 5 years, Slate along with some of his high school friends, and with the assistance of a variety community business partners over the years including AmeriGas Propane, Jerome Bembry, of Pepsi, Grafx by Caz, Gary “The Grill Master” Grimsley, Albert Wilson, of the Kansas City Chiefs, Foundation, Kona Ice, Bounce World and aabbtreasurecoast.com to name a few who contribute to this annual community event.
Throughout the day, hundreds of family and friends turned can enjoy free food, free Back Pack Giveaways, music and from 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM Free Kona Ice and plenty of community camaraderie between men and young men.
“I’ve been a barber in Fort Pierce for almost 3 decades. It gives me great pleasure to be in a position to give back to my community”, stated Slate.
The 6th Annual Slate Barbershop BTS Cut-A-Thon begins at 5:30 AM, Saturday August 12th , 2017.
