40th Annual Handcrafted Jewelry, Rock, and Gem Show
Looking for a special piece of jewelry for a loved one or yourself? Make jewelry and need those special elements that make a piece sing? Love geology and gemology, or just looking at beautiful things from nature? You will want to attend the 40th Annual Handcrafted Jewelry, Rock, and Gem Show at the Martin County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 21, 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, October 22, 10 am to 4 pm. The show is sponsored by the St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club. It is to fund The Bob and Ruth Young Memorial Scholarship at Indian River State College. The award goes to a student in either the earth sciences or arts program. Admission to the show is free, but a $5 donation to the scholarship is greatly appreciated.
Exhibitors, vendors, artisans, and club members will be selling their wares as well as demonstrating techniques and skills, including silversmithing, glass fusion, lost wax casting, bead weaving, lampwork bead making, metal impressions, faceting, cabochons, wire wrapping, and chain maille. In addition, highlights include a raffle for custom-made jewelry and a Treasure Table with numerous items donated by club members available for sale, including jewelry, beads, books, and equipment. Children are also welcome with a special area where they can learn about gemstone identification and make their own jewelry.
