Deadly Manhattan Terror Attack Suspect Had Florida Ties.

Manhattan (Treasurecoast.com) -A 29-year-old Tampa man is accused of renting a Home Depot truck, then running over people on a bike path in New York City before ultimately being shot by a police officer. Eight people were killed and at least 12 people were injured.

Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipovm, of Tampa was shot by New York City police following the incident.

Six victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others died at a hospital, officials said.

Saipov lived in Tampa, Florida, and New Jersey. He came to the U.S. in 2010 from Uzbekistan.

Avoid the area of West Street (Barclay Street to a Christopher Street) due to a shooting in Lower Manhattan. Expect large emergency presence.
Currently there is one person in custody. No others outstanding. All information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing. More information when available.

Update:
The following information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing. A media briefing will take place later. 
Earlier a vehicle entered the West St. pedestrian/bike path a few blocks north of Chambers St.
The vehicle struck multiple people on the path. There are several fatalities and numerous people injured.
The vehicle continued south striking another vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle displaying imitation firearms & was shot by NYPD
The suspect is in custody. This is preliminary, more information to follow.
