Captain Charlie’s Fish Tales April 21

Captain Charlie’s Fish Tales April 21

Inshore:

The winds continue to blow in April along the Treasure Coast! While we have been able to get out most days, it has been a challenge on where you might want to fish each day. Fishing has been good for us in spite of the conditions that April traditionally blow at us. Enjoy the fishing the rest of the month and plan your adventures carefully!

Michael and Wade found a nice grouper, mackerel, jacks and finished off with a nice slot redfish to make for a fun morning. Roger, Peter, Ken and Kyle found a variety of fish to catch. Jacks, sheepshead, croakers and snapper were on the catch list in spite of a windy day for us. We had a slow morning with Pete and JR, but did manage a few big jacks to bend a rod. Kevin and Brad found croakers, sand perch and landed two of three snook to end a good day fishing the waters around Fort Pierce. Mark, Jack, Jessica and Jordan were back again this year. Mark started off the day with a big black drum. Jack, not to be outdone, landed a nice snook and the girls caught a variety of fish to make for a fun day for all.

sheepshead and croakers

There are still some sheepshead and croakers around, but they are gradually moving out to the ocean. The snook bite has been good around the inlet and bridges. DOA Bait Busters or live bait have both worked well. Redfish have been hanging under the mangroves. DOA shrimp or live bait can help you find a slot red. Our trout bite has been slow lately. Try the DOA Deadly Combo when trying to locate trout on the grass flats. Mackerel have been moving into the inlet with the tides. There have been some nice size macks lately.

Watch the weather and plan your fishing to make the winds work to your advantage. Getting out early can let you have a couple hours to fish before the winds set in for the day. Have fun and enjoy the fishing.

Remember, fishing is not just another hobby….it’s an ADVENTURE!

Thanks and Good Fishing!
