Arrests in PSL BB gun shooting spree 

On May 24, 2017, Port St. Lucie Police arrested Jessee Huttemeyer (DOB 6/20/95, 6101 Bamboo Drive, Fort Pierce) on 36 counts of criminal mischief, grand theft, 2 counts of giving false information to a pawn broker, and 2 counts of dealing in stolen property.  Police also arrested his brother, Samuel Huttemeyer (DOB 1/7/99, 903 Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Pierce) on 36 counts of criminal mischief, grand theft, and 2 counts of dealing in stolen property.

 The Investigation

The investigation began after the Port St. Lucie Police received 36 reports of criminal mischief whereby cars throughout the City had their windows shot out by suspected bb gun bullets.  Detectives spoke to a witness who saw a gray box SUV. It was  later identified as a Honda Element, leaving the area of Walgreen, located in the 1600 block of SW St. Lucie West Boulevard, shooting a bb gun as it left the area.  Then, they went to the Walgreens and viewed surveillance of two white males leaving the store and getting into a Honda Element. 

Detectives traced the movements

Detectives traced back the movements of the suspects by checking with the WalMart, also located in the 1600 block of SW St. Lucie West Boulevard, and viewed video surveillance in the same time frame.  Detectives learned that two white male suspects entered exited the SUV and went into WalMart at 12:40 am on May 23, 2017.  While inside WalMart the brothers selected 2 bb gun rifles, CO2 cartridges, bb gun ammunition, DVD player, and a hover board.    The suspects then leave the store without paying for the merchandise.

Detectives then took still pictures of the suspects and met with the School Resource Officer at Port St. Lucie High, Officer Kneidel.  Officer Kneidel identified one of the suspects as Samuel Huttemeyer.  Further investigation revealed that Samuel has a brother, Jessee.  Detectives were able to positively identify the brothers as the suspects.  Through the investigation it was learned that Jessee Huttemeyer owns a Honda Element.

Detectives conducted a search.

Armed with the identities of the suspects, Detectives conducted a search of pawn transactions.  Detectives learned that Jessee Huttemeyer made a pawn transaction on 5/23/17 at 11:09 am of a Razor Hoverboard at Paramount Pawn in Port St. Lucie.  Detectives also learned that Jessee Huttemeyer made another transaction on 5/23/17 at 11:40 am at Elite Pawn in Port St. Lucie where he pawned a DVD player and a bb gun. 

Police made contact with the brothers who were driving the a Honda Element.  Detectives searched the car and found 2 bb guns with ammunition and CO2 cartridges.

Jessee Huttemeyer and Samuel Huttemeyer were arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
