500 gallon fuel spill in Martin County
The spill happened at about 12:45 p.m. when a fuel truck spilled between 300 to 500 gallons of fuel while trying to fill up a 90-foot Hatteras yacht.
The fuel spilled in the North fork of the St. Lucie River, north of the Old Roosevelt Bridge in a marina off of Northwest Dixie Highway. The boat was docked at the Stuart Harbor Marina.
Yesterday when this was happening i personally drove to the area and I did see a fuel truck filling a boat. According to someone at the scene a police boat was driving by. They saw the fuel and followed it to the boat. It was determined by the captain an fuel truck to be less than a minute.
