33rd Annual Kids’ Fishing Tournament set for Aug. 15 at McCarty Ranch

Boys and girls are invited to cast a line at the 33rd annual Kids’ Fishing Tournament on Saturday, August 15 at McCarty Ranch Preserve. This event is free for kids ages 5 to 14. Adults must accompany children under the age of 8.

 

The times are:

  • 5 to 9 year-olds register at 7:30 a.m. and fish from 8 to 9 a.m.
  • 10 to 14 year-olds register at 9 a.m. and fish from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

 

Trophies will be awarded in each age division. There will be a free raffle and refreshments.

 

Participants will need to bring their own fishing pole and tackle. Please use single hook lures only and bring eye protection against hooks and poles. Recommended bait is bread, chicken liver or shiners.

 

This event is sponsored by the City of Port St. Lucie, Police Athletic League, Port St. Lucie Angler’s Club and the Savannah Fishing Club.

 

McCarty Ranch Preserve is located at 12525 Range Line Rd., west of I-95, south of the intersection of Glades Cut Off Rd. and Range Line Rd.
